Happy Friday everyone! I have found a new found love for summer because I am able to read so much and continue to post reviews for you all. So this Friday, why should it be any different? Recently I read A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor, and all I can say is I can’t believe I just now discovered her. I am all for reading great literature by women writers and O’Connor was no exception.
After receiving this gem of a collection of short stories as a gift I felt right away I had to dive in. I think reading this particular type of book was the best decision for me. I like that I got to read numerous short stories and really begin to see what type of a writer she is. Her writing style and in particular writing plots is definitely not for everyone. Gory, suspenseful, and difficult to read are just a few of the words I’d use to describe the audience she would attract. However all this being said I had a hard time putting this book down. The deeper meaning behind each story was intriguing and altogether genius. I think she had a story to tell and did so within each one of her writings.
I highly recommend this collection and think it is my new favorite way of reading from authors I never read have before. What are your thoughts on short stories? Do you prefer them? Hate them? I’d love to hear any and all feedback! Have a great weekend everyone! Keep reading.
