Happy Friday friends! For today’s post I am doing another book review. Recently I read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and felt it deserved a review.
This novel, going into it, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew the premise, but besides that I was opening something blindsided. I cannot believe it took me this long to read this book. It is so different from the genre and topics I have been leaning towards, yet so powerful. I feel this is one of those books everyone should read. The brutality, honesty, and overall voice that is shown throughout the novel is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Not only that, it also had one of the best endings I felt in any book I have recently read. I do not want to give anything away however, no matter what your views are on any spectrum, this book deserves the read. Ofglen, the main character and the protagonist of the novel is so interesting. The way in which she shares her story and how she ends it is both compelling and brilliant. Atwood’s portray of her and the rest of the characters is fantastic to say the least.
Have any of you read this? I feel as though I’m one of the last ones. Let me know your thoughts if so!
I also wanted to add that I will be doing a bit of a SheBeShe makeover this summer. I have been brainstorming and have realized I really want a central focus in my blogs. I want to talk about things I love and I really narrowed it down to two; books and travel. I will absolutely be discussing other topics, food, healthy habits, lifestyle choices, but will be sticking to my two main points of interest for the most part. I feel this will only help my community of followers as well as promoting new interesting posts for you all! Have a great weekend everyone! Soak in the summer sun.
