Happy Monday friends! As I head back to school, I like to look back on some changes about myself that have evolved over the past few months. One of the biggest that comes to mind would be music. After investing in a record player for the new year, my music taste has made a complete 180 degrees. I have become a fan of r&b, the blues, and my ultimate love, jazz music and John Coltrane. While I believe anything sounds better if it was made in the 60-90’s, the record players unique sound is unlike anything you have ever heard. Whether you are wanting something up beat to dance to while getting ready such as Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely, or you rather something instrumental to listen to while doing homework like John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme, a record player is the best way to listen to it.
Another new favorite hobby of mine (if you couldn’t tell already) is record shopping. This could be one of the most fun, therapeutic, and best ways to find your favorite albums. Buying used vinyls not only makes you feel satisfied with the possible deals you will find, but also excited to listen to something new. You also have the opportunity to meet new people. I have always run into the most unique souls while record hunting.
It is important to always look back and see how you have evolved. Whether it is looking back to a few months ago, or just yesterday, growing and changing is just another important step in defining your future. Music has helped me in my latest reflection.
