Shape it up Sunday

Happy Sunday my friends!  One of my favorite things about summer is the fact that it is an opportunity to have a fresh start.  The weather is beautiful, the food is good, pools are open, and YOU have the chance to get in the best shape of your life!  I always enjoyed the summer months because I had the opportunity to really focus on my healthy lifestyle, in particular working out and eating well.  Today I wanted to share with you my go-to workout routine, plus a smoothie recipe that is sure to make you want to join the health kick with me!  First there is the outfit.  I always feel if I like the outfit I am wearing to workout in, it motivates me to workout even harder.  Fitness clothes have evolved and I have so many places I love to purchase them from.  If you are willing to splurge, Lululemon is my favorite!  The clothes I buy from there not only last the longest of all my workout clothes, but fit me the best as well.  Maybe you would rather not spend that much though, especially if you are just starting off on your fitness journey.  In that case, Target and Old Navy are my other two go-to’s whenever I am feeling like a fitness spree (which is always).  Now of course you need a good, durable pair of sneakers.  Nike and Adidas are my favorites for finding a good pair of shoes to workout in, that are also cute and fun to wear if you are just running errands and happen to not be working out that particular day.

Now that we are dressed and ready to go, lets get into my summer workout routine!  I want to include some tips when discussing my routine that are easy and sure to make you beach, pool, or even laying out in the sun ready!  I tend to not to have a gym membership in the summer months.  I figure the weather is so beautiful, I might as well enjoy it.  My first tip for you is to workout right when you wake up.  I have got into a habit of this because I won’t have the time to come up with excuses on why I shouldn’t be working out, and I’ll just do it and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day.  I tend to start off with cardio.  I will usually run 2-3 miles in the morning, either on my treadmill (if it is raining, or if you don’t live in a great area to be running in), or around the neighborhood I live in.  My second tip for you is to mix it up.  For cardio you can basically do it anywhere.  If you live on the beach, run on the sand.  If you live in a city, run through local parks.  Mixing up your cardio location helps so you don’t get bored of doing the same thing every time you workout.  After my cardio I tend to do two exercises targeting my abs and the second exercise, a little of everything.  I will post down below what these two exercises are that way you have the chance to try them out too.  This workout is quick, and if you really work at it, very effective.  It has become something I enjoy waking up and doing everyday.  Finally my last tip for you is to have a healthy breakfast either before of after this workout.  I tend to eat afterwords, however this recipe can be enjoyed both ways.  My favorite way to end a good workout is a fresh smoothie.  My favorite is a citrus wonderland and it fills me up until lunch time.  I will have it posted below for you to try as well!  I hope you all enjoyed this Sunday Funday workout and fitness tips routine, and it motivated you to try some simple tips that are sure to do the trick! Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new delicious post!
